Olympic Update

Even though I couldn't cast on my Olympic sock until Saturday**, I've made very good progress. I'm designing as I go... see?

I stopped at this point (just completed gusset decreases) because I haven't decided about the pattern on the foot. I'm leaning toward just stripes of the different colors. The socks would look really cool with more interesting patterns, but that just doesn't seem as practical.

I know you're dying to see the inside, aren't you?

I'm planning to pick up the stitches at the top of the cuff and knit the ribbing after completing the foot. I'm working up my nerve to do corugated ribbing.

**I procrastinated the dyeing, and had to wait for the yarn to dry before casting on!

Can't Stop

More baby socks! These were knit from some old wool, Bernat Meadowspun or something like that, on US2s, 32 stitches.

And these are from KnitPicks, 32 stitches on US 1.5s.

Oh Baby!

So I decided that knitting baby socks would be fun... the Opal Chatters Newsletter published by PTYarns announced a contest. And since I covet the sock yarn prize, I'll enter! First pair I made from a ball of leftover either Regia or Opal, 28 sts on US1 dpns.

The second pair was made with the same amount of stitches, but this time on US2s with Briggs and Little sport weight dyed with KoolAid...

On the needles right now is the second of a pair of solid red sockies. I've got about the next 10 or so pair planned out already. What... I said I want to win, didn't I?

Even More Wool...

This is the wool I had to be patient for... I kept getting outbid. Isn't it purdy? Again, fingering weight 100% wool, 220 yards in each 50g ball. The pattern is modified Aran Braid Socks for Teri
(how could I resist!?), knit over 64 sts on US1 dpns.

Spaced Out

Got this great fingering weight wool on eBay... but I hadta buy an entire bag of each color. Here's the first pair of socks, in a subtle shading of yellow to orange. The non-pattern is just a purl stitch every 4th stitch on every 4th row. Knit over 64 sts on US1 dpns.

So now I have spare yarn! 2 50g balls 100% wool 220 yards. My gauge in stockinette is 8.5 stitches and 11 rows per inch. EDITED TO ADD: yarn is sold - thanks!
